To diagnose ADHD, we use tests like the Continuous Performance Test (CPT) to see how easily they get distracted and how well they stick with tasks. We also look at their executive functioning skills, such as planning and organizing. Input from parents, teachers, and others who know the student well is super important, so we gather this through questionnaires and rating scales.

We then compare all this information with the criteria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) to see if the student fits the diagnosis. If we're working with a school, we also look at educational codes, which might be a bit different from the DSM.

Here’s what we look at in an SLD evaluation:

IQ vs. Academic Performance: We’re checking if there’s a big gap (about 22 points) between a student’s IQ and their academic skills.
